Seven Post-COVID Summer Travel Tips for Smart Travelers

Seven Post-COVID Summer Travel Tips for Smart Travelers

With summer already at hand, states are beginning to reopen, and domestic travel is slowly making a comeback. COVID-19 is continuing its surge across the U.S. with numbers inflating and deflating daily. If you’ve had enough of being indoors but still want to remain a safe distance from others, a smart travel plan will help you get the escape you crave. When you plan to go back on the road this summer, these travel tips may be helpful in the planning stages.

Book Tours and Transportation Early

If you have serious plans to travel, don’t wait for the last minute to book activities. Many attractions will have updated hours, and transportation may be subject to change in the post-COVID era. Meaning, the smart thing to do would be to plan and have alternative activities in case something doesn’t work out.

Many travel agencies and tour operators offer flexible booking and cancellation policies, so you can book early and travel later, eliminating the stress of travel. You may also find the best deals immediately after tourism reopens. If you cancel your booking 15 days before your arrival, Beyond Times Square offers a 100% credit to be used before December 31, 2021. No re-booking fee will be charged.

Apply Sunscreen

Spending time in the sun will be heaven for so many of us that have spent the last three or so months indoors. But just because the sun is shining doesn’t mean we should forget one of the essential summer necessities: sunscreen. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and like the rest of your organs, it requires protection. Sunscreen protects you from harmful UV rays, reduces the chances of sunburn, and decreases the risk of contracting skin cancer. Sunscreen is vital for people of all skin tones, so don’t forget it because you think the sun can’t hurt you.

Stay Hydrated

A healthy body is better at fighting off germs and infections. Staying hydrated won’t guarantee immunity against the Corona Virus, but it will help your body fight it off. Drinking water boosts your immunity, which in turn helps defend against the virus. Furthermore, staying hydrated is increasingly important during the summer months when you’re more likely to sweat. Drinking water helps your heart pump blood more easily through blood vessels to your muscles, making it critical for heart health.

Carry Hand Sanitizer

Sanitizer has become a premium necessity over the past several months. Travel size hand sanitizer is a great pocket item that ensures the spread of germs is kept to a minimum. The best sanitizers are ones with little to no fragrance, as the scent can make them less potent.

Plan for the Unexpected

As locations begin to open, and people venture outdoors, travelers will need to consider the weather when planning an outing. This means planning alternative clothing options for rain or walking long distances. Weather can also impact how and when you get to your destination. If the weather is too poor to drive or fly, you may need to have a backup plan or reschedule.

Plan Around Traffic

A vital summer travel tip is planning your transportation around traffic times. If you are traveling long distances, starting either early in the morning or late at night can help you avoid hitting traffic. Depending on where you happen to be traveling, places like beaches will have heavy traffic in the morning hours as beach-goers hurry to get good parking and beach spots. For those traveling great distances, you’ll most likely be able to make the greatest bounds during off travel times, getting you to your destination faster.

Research Accommodations

Reputable hotels that are taking sanitation seriously should be your only choice when it comes to safe traveling. It’s essential to research your accommodations to see what safety measures they have implemented during the pandemic and what they plan on doing for continued safety during your stay. When you book through Beyond Times Square, we guarantee that all hotel rooms booked through us are sanitized daily.

Traveling during and post-COVID will be a big adjustment. Safety will remain paramount, and travelers may have to be more careful about their activities and locations they plan to visit. Beyond Times Square offers a stress-free experience and will accommodate your travel needs to the best of our ability.
