Sample Itinerary

Itinerary: (This is a suggested itinerary – we can customize based on your preferences.)

Your Journey Begins: Your private luxury transportation, along with your expert professional tour guide will meet you at your hotel (or another pre-determined location) to start your seven-hour DC Estate & Garden Tour.

Enchantment Awaits: Your first stop will be a two-hour tour of Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens where the legacy of Marjorie Merriweather Post unfolds amidst lush gardens and exquisite collections. Here, you’ll gaze upon Russian imperial art and French decorative pieces that speak volumes of history, while the meticulously curated gardens invite you on a tranquil exploration of floral splendor and serene landscapes.

Let’s Eat: Time to grab a bite to eat and sit and rest a bit before heading on to the next two estates! (Cost of lunch is not included.)

Humanities, Horticulture and Harvard: After lunch you’ll head to a Harvard University research institute, library, museum and garden. No, you aren’t heading to Cambridge – you’re headed to Georgetown and the Dumbarton Oaks Estate Museum & Garden for an hour-long visit. This elegant Federal-style residence is home to a stunning collection of Byzantine and Pre-Columbian artwork – collected by philanthropists Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss throughout their lives. It also houses breathtaking gardens that truly are a horticultural masterpiece, offering a tranquil oasis with intricately designed landscapes that evolve from one enchanting space to another.

Another Georgetown Gem: Last but certainly not least is a 90-minute visit to Tudor Place Historic House & Garden – home to six generations of the Peter’s family – as well as the enslaved workers and servants who worked here. This National Historic Landmark interweaves the family’s connection to Martha Washington with an examination of its past to serve as a living history lesson. Today, it’s a cultural cornerstone in Georgetown, celebrated for engaging the community with its rich programming and serene green spaces.

Time To Bid Farewell: Your day of touring some of DC’s most fabulous estates and gardens comes to an end when you’re picked up by your private driver at Tudor Place and dropped off at your hotel or another predetermined location – but the treasures you saw and the stories you heard will be with you for years to come!
