A Day in the Brandywine Valley
Sightseeing and Attractions: (Duration: 9 hours)
About an hour from Philadelphia and surrounded by lush countryside and rambling rivers, the Brandywine Valley is yours to explore for the day.
Start your day with a visit of Longwood Gardens. In 1906, industrialist Pierre S. du point purchased a small farm near Kennett Square, PA, to save a collection of historic trees from being sold for lumber. Today, Longwood Gardens is one of the world’s great gardens, encompassing 1,077 acres of dazzling gardens, woodlands, meadows, a conservatory, and is home to the most significant fountain collection in North America.
Then, enjoy a quick lunch on your own at Historic Kennett Square, known for its galleries and gourmet restaurants. After lunch, you’ll have some time to explore and shop in this historic small town.
Before you return to Philadelphia, stop at Waywine Vinery & Vineyard, a family-owned and operated winery located at the bottom of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail. Wayvine grows exceptional grapes that are meticulously crafted into amazing wine, making the estate one of the best wineries in the region. The wine tasting will include three red wines and three white wines.
