Salem Sightseeing Program

Sightseeing and Attractions: (Duration: 5 hours)

Travel to Salem, a town tormented in the 17th century by its fear of witchcraft, as well as being a center of maritime importance in the 1700’s. Start your tour with a visit of the Salem Witch Museum. The museum examines one of the most enduring and emotional events in American History…the Witch Trials of 1692. The main presentation is based on actual trial documents. Guests experience the drama of that dark time through thirteen life-size stage sets, figures, lighting, and a stirring narration as they are witnesses to the web of lies and intrigue of the Salem Witch Hunt. In the second exhibit, a guide will take you through changing interpretation of witches, the truth behind the stereotypes, witchcraft practice today and the frightening phenomenon of witch hunting.

Next, follow the Salem Heritage Trail and learn more about the days of sea captains, pirates, and noted novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne. See the East India Museum Hall, the Witch House, the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, and so much more.
